K K – Its a harness it works. Nothing to sing and dance about tho. Expensive for what it is, probably cheaper and just as good if not better if you look around. Recommendations its good but I would look around for similar alternatives.
Simon – Bought for my Staffordshire Bull Terrier and as a harness it fits her. But I bought it because she does not get on with other dogs and I need to lift her at a moments notice. Where the handle is situated at the front as you try to lift her she just slips out. I have a tuff wear harness at present with the handle midway down her back and that lifts her perfectly. This is a poor design and unsuitable for its stated use.
Alejandro – It’s a decent vest for the price but you get what you pay for in this situation, bought this for my Belgian Malinois for hikes and as a service vest for his patches to use in public. The front leash ring has very cheap stitching quality and looks like it’ll rip easily for a dog that pulls, luckily I don’t ever need to leash my dog as he’s very obedient off leash. The metal clips make a ton of noise when he moves, it doesn’t bother him but very annoying to hear when he’s running right next to me, also the clips get stuck very often have to squeeze and play with them back and forth to get them to release sometimes. Upgraded to a k9 tactical gear defender harness and it’s very well worth the money, but like I said you get what you pay for, not bad for the price if you’re just going to use it every now and then and not for much physical activity.
Mom-troversial – We found this tactical vest on Amazon and we could not be happier. This vest was a replacement for the cheaper version given to us by our service dog company. The large hook and loop areas made attaching her patches, and the pouches containing my husbands medical supplies a breeze. The clips are a bit hard to get used to, but once you get the hang of them (push the lower clip up a bit into the upper before squeezing to release) they are a breeze. Even though the clips are a bit heavy, the vest itself is still relatively lightweight. You can tell upon examination how sturdy and well sewn this vest is. The handle worked well for helping my husband when he needed the dog to brace for him. I love the adjustability of the straps. We made one small modification and used a long strap to attach a lightweight pocket on the underside of the vest to slip an ultra thin gel ice pack into. This made the dog much more comfortable and helped her stay cool while we were out on our summer excursions. We elected to attach her least to her collar instead of using the two attached clips, but we have used the back and chest clips in the past. They work very well. I am overall extremely impressed by this vest.
Danielle King – I have recently had a large weight loss and am into fitness. The problem is with taking our Belgian Malinois with me on my walk/run. That giraffe neck of hers always gets out of collars or gets choked, there seems to be no in between. This vest is virtually impossible for her to get out of. When you have a dog that has the burnt nerve and crack head mentality like a Mal does, you need a good sturdy means of controlling them. I am 5’5″ and have to bend slightly to use the handle on the back of the vest to hold tight to her. I am very happy with the quality and sturdiness of this vest/harness. I highly recommend it! The only problem I see is if she is sitting the harness looks extremely uncomfortable around her armpit/ribcage area. Mal’s have that deep but skinny chest. But while moving it doesn’t seem to rub at all. So it’s not really a problem
Duy – So far so good. Strong and durable materials. The buckles are all made of metal and have the fabric in between the dog fur and these buckles to avoid chafing. Our old harness broke because the dog pulls really hard sometimes. This one has good control because he’s a very independent dog. It’s great that this one fits him snugly but still has room to expand if need be. We purchased the XL size. Our dog is about 60 lbs and has a really big neck. It’s certainly much heavier than our old harness but that’s a good thing because it burns off all his energy. Might not be as good when he gets older so we may consider switching to a light weight harness. But regardless, he looks pretty tough in this one!
Tsurugi – To say I’m hype about this harness is an understatement. I can’t express how difficult it has been for me to find my dog a harness that both fits him perfectly and is strong enough to withhold his strength, but here we finally here.
My dog, Jax, is a 6 year old, 65lb Pitbull thay has muscles on top of his muscles. He’s a very girthy boy, especially in his chest, so almost every hardness I’ve purchased for him hasn’t been able to fit him properly, and if it did, it wasn’t strong enough and would break.
I’ve had my eye on this harness for years now and was finally about to purchase it. As soon as it came in, I got it fitted on him and we went for a walk.
My/his initial thoughts: At first, Jax was a bit hesitant to walk in this harness because he’s never had such a full harness before. It fits snugly against his legs (but not in a way that will cause chafing) so walking was wonky to him at first, but he quickly forgets about it. As for the fit, the straps that come along with it are exceptionally long, so there is ample room for adjustments to be made. I was able to fit it perfectly to him, trim off the excess, and melt the edges (not that I felt it was necessary, but just in case). Not only does this harness fit my behemoth like a glove, he’s also now a decked-out badass.
I thoroughly enjoy the molle throughout this harness. I’ll be purchasing pouches for storing medical and hiking supplies in the near future to attach to the harness for when we go hiking.
One more feature that I didn’t expect would make a huge impact is the fact that all 4 buckles can come undone. This allows for you to put the harness on whichever way you’d like, whether that be by slipping it over your dog’s head, or putting it on from around his side. One problem I’ve always had with Jax and harnesses is that he hates it being placed over his head, which most harnesses require. So being able to put this harness on a different way is a godsend for the both of us. This probably isn’t an issue for most dog owners (my dog is just an incredible baby), but I figured I’d add it in just on the off chance that someone else experienced the same struggle.
As far as the durability of this harness goes, this thing seems solid. Right down to the buckles that are extremely heavy duty. I can’t speak for its longevity just yet, but this review will be the first thing I update if anything unexpected occurs with this harness.
All in all, I 100% recommend this harness. I’m extremely pleased with it and now get just about as hype as Jax every time we’re are getting ready to go for a walk, all because of this harness.
So if you’re thinking about it, just get it.
